Do you like riding roller coasters? Regardless of whether you do or don’t enjoy riding (I don’t) you likely can appreciate the feelings this experience brings. The anticipation followed by the excitement followed by the rapid drop followed by the journey of getting back up the hill; can be a lot of fun…in an amusement park ride.
Not so much in your business. Here the drop is emotionally and financially brutal and the journey back up the hill can be torturous.
This is the ride that ends real estate careers.
And every real estate agent rides it.
The successful ones learn how to get off.
Why do we get on the roller coaster in the first place? Simple. We come into the business desperate to get clients. When our prospecting efforts begin working, we worry that we will do something stupid during the closing process. That fear generates the reaction of working extra hard to make up for our inexperience.
Although we consciously know we’ve stopped prospecting during this effort to make sure a closing goes perfectly, it is justified by the belief that hard work will reap the reward of referrals. As a side note, getting referrals is NOT as simple as doing a good job but that’s a different blog. As a bonus, the hard work of guiding and protecting our clients provides us positive feelings of accomplishment.
The result? Periods of prosperity followed by periods of stagnation. You are officially on the roller coaster.
The symptoms are ugly: extreme worry, chasing bad leads, long days, overdue bills, ignoring your family, etc.
The obvious question is, “How do I get off?”
I’ve spent 20+ years in this profession both living the roller coaster as an agent and watching good agents leave the business because of the roller coaster. Now as a coach and a trainer, I see agents struggle with this daily.
Finally, I decided it was time for agents to get control of their business.
After tons of research, testing, and practicing myself I am releasing this project I call, “Slay the Roller Coaster”. This is a 30-Day Challenge for you, aimed at giving you all the skills needed to get off the coaster. You can click here to see the details.
If you regularly follow my blogs you know I deliver tons of free content (100+ blogs, free reports, and e-books) to grow your business. As a real estate agent, I know the nibbling that comes to your wallet daily. BUT as a psychologist I know that handing you a challenge without any skin in the game from you is a futile effort.
My focus is a stronger business for you: NOT money. To make this happen I need engagement from you…even if the price is less than $10. You can find out more about the challenge here.
Okay, here’s my question for you, “are you ready to get off the roller coaster and claim the life that the real estate profession promised you?” If the answer is yes, click here to get started.
I’ll see you next time on “Strategy Sessions”.
